No two underground mines are exactly the same, and choosing the right tools for the job can be a difficult task — especially when it comes to Ground Engaging Tools (GET). What type of material are you digging? How hard is it? How does GET replacement fit into your maintenance strategy?
At Caterpillar, we offer a wide variety of GET to help our customers better meet their site-specific needs. And the new R2900 XE diesel-electric underground loader is designed to take advantage of all our GET offerings so as many customers as possible can take advantage of the machine’s clean, powerful performance.
Cat Modular Segment Welded GET System
Our modular shrouds offer the reliability of welded parts, but they’re as easy to replace as a mechanical system. The integrated bevel reduces weld installation time by as much as 20% over competitive systems, and it creates an 18% stronger modular shroud assembly. All wear indicators are visible from the top to help you quickly and easily establish maintenance intervals.
Bolt-On Half Arrow (BOHA) GET
We designed our BOHA GET to reduce the amount of time and money you spend replacing cutting edges. A typical weld-on set of cutting edges can take between 20 and 40 hours of high-skill labor to replace. BOHA can be replaced in as little as an hour or two.
And they don’t just take less time to install, they also offer improved wear life. In fact, some customer sites have reported BOHA more than doubling the life of their previous weld-on systems. While not every site will see such dramatic results, the average wear life of BOHA GET is 1,500 hours, comfortably between weld-on and other mechanically attached options.
In addition to this ease of replacement and long life, BOHA offers the same impact performance and toughness as weld-on edges.
Durilock™ Lip Shroud System
The new Durilock Lip Shroud system is a flexible, productive offering that features hammerless installation and maintenance-free retention. It’s a dynamic system, allowing you to switch between three interchangeable shroud styles quickly and easily without stopping to change the base edge or retention system.
- Standard — Wedge shape for general production and development
- Abrasion — Contoured to put more material on the shroud base
- Penetration — Less leading-edge material to easily penetrate dense material
