Setting up a precise grading profile with your Cat® motor grader is simple and easy thanks to the Grade with cross slope functionality built into the machine’s updated monitor. As you control one side of your blade manually, cross slope automatically adjusts the other side to accurately grade at your desired angle.
In this video you will learn about accessing the cross slope menu and settings.
CROSS SLOPE CONTROL NAVIGATION [00:16]
Your motor grader monitor is a command center that gives you, among other things, information on the position of the blade. Here’s how you begin using cross slope.
From the default menu screen, use the four-way soft key to select the cross slope information menu.
From there, press the right soft key button to display cross slope settings.
Here you can set valve speed, offset adjust and number of targets.
AUTO OR MANUAL [01:00]
Your motor grader always begins with blade control in manual mode. To use cross slope, you must put one side of the blade in automatic mode.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO USE CROSS SLOPE
Disengage the parking brake.
Make sure that there is no articulation, the circle is centered and there is no wheel lean.
Ensure that the implements are not locked out.
Check there are no active diagnostics on a required input or output.
Raise the blade off the ground.
Set/change target slope value.
Place the desired side in auto mode.
Use the joystick on the manual side to control the height of the blade.
Modify your presets (favorites) so you can access those with the click of a button.
LOCK IN YOUR TARGET SLOPE
The cross slope information menu contains several ways to adjust the position the blade. Once you enter numerical values, they will appear on the monitor screen. You can:
Set increment/decrement with the thumb rollers.
Bench the blade on a desired slope and then push both thumb rollers up simultaneously to match the blade position to the slope.
Preset the target using the yellow button on the right-hand roller.
Swap target direction for turnarounds by pushing both rollers down at the same time.
CROSS SLOPE INDICATE SYSTEM
If equipped, the cross slope Indicate system provides precise cross slope and mainfall feedback. Change the position of the blade with the joysticks, and those values will change automatically on the monitor. Cross slope indicate can be upgraded to automatic cross slope.
