Supporting and Celebrating Women In Construction

Caterpillar to host operators for networking event and skills tests.

The construction industry has significant growth and demand, and women are critical to the growth of its workforce. Though more women are joining the construction industry than ever before, they still make up a small portion of the workforce. ​In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 14% of construction workers in 2022 were female.

To celebrate women in construction, Caterpillar is hosting a networking event and skills tests for female operators across North and South America at Caterpillar’s Edward J. Rapp Customer & Training Center.

This two-day Celebrating Women In Construction event will provide operators the opportunity to make connections with other women in their field, hear from a motivational speaker who broke boundaries in her professional career, and put their operating skills to the test with three competitions.



 

About the Skills Tests

Three competitions will put our operators’ skills to the test and a winner will be named for each competition.

Rock ‘N’ Roll

Small Wheel Loader Skills Test

Machine: 938 Small Wheel Loader

Objective: Move material through course to achieve 7.0 to 7.5 tons then change over to forks and use them to move pallet.

Compact Tracker Loader Skills Test

Machine: 265 Compact Track Loader

Objective: Navigate an obstacle course with multi-machine functions.
