MY GENERATOR IS MAKING A LOUD CLANKING NOISE (OR ANOTHER UNUSUAL SOUND); WHAT DO I DO?
Start with a basic "walk-around" inspection to check for any obvious problems such as loose wires or cables, visual damage to the unit and appropriate fluid levels. Confirm that your generator has enough oil and that it does not need to be changed. If your generator continues to make a sound that is out of the ordinary, we recommend taking the unit to your nearest Caterpillar Home & Outdoor Power Authorized Caterpillar Sales and Service Center (ASSC).
