B2Gold reduces costs through lower fossil fuel consumption with a solar plant at its Otjikoto Mine in Namibia featuring 62,400 Cat® thin-film photovoltaic modules, 260 solar inverters, seven 1 MW transformers, and the Cat Microgrid Master Controller.
In Livermore, Kentucky, Buck Creek Farm must keep the fans in its poultry buildings running 24/7, relying on a 70 kW Cat solar system with monocrystalline panels and inverters to help keep energy costs low with sustainable power.
Since California’s commercial energy prices are the third highest in the U.S., Hawthorne Cat installed a 492 kW solar array to deliver clean power to its 30-acre Rancho Bernardo headquarters, reducing an estimated 560 metric tons of carbon dioxide on an annual basis.
When the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency decided to diversify its power generation portfolio with more sustainable sources, it commissioned a 1,000 kW solar photovoltaic system from Caterpillar, which produces enough energy to power approximately 145 homes.
Because the Tucson Proving Ground is too remote to easily connect to the local utility grid, Caterpillar installed a hybrid microgrid system to align with its sustainability goals, offsetting its generator set operation and reducing its diesel fuel use by 33 percent.
Aging infrastructure at the W.R. Grace & Co. facility in Curtis Bay became an ongoing challenge, so the company commissioned a combined heat and power plant powered by two Cat generator sets, resulting in an estimated annual energy savings of $1.2 million.
