Bagging the best power solution

Track-Pack Silage Bagger

In 2005, Justin Bond started his own business with just $4,000 and a focus on fixing trailer axles. Within a few months, Justin added a partner and the two began building a sought-after, well-respected field repair business. As demand grew for their services, they were able to work on — and get familiar with — a wide range of American and European farm equipment. Eventually, Bond decided to make his own equipment. He began by producing forage trailers, and then expanded production to manufacture other types of equipment. The quality and effectiveness of his company’s products quickly earned industry acclaim.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

  • Today, JBS Equipment manufactures high-end, technologically advanced manure spreaders, silage baggers and forage trailers, as well as boxes and bedding flingers with customers spanning five continents. Farmers and contract agricultural operators use these machines to make harvesting and spreading easier and more efficient.
  • All JBS machines are custom-engineered in a state-of-the-art fabrication and assembly plant. One of those products is the high-performance Track-Pack® Silage Bagger, which farmers can use to reduce silage spoilage and shrink loss.
  • The Track-Pack Silage Bagger is powered by a Cat® C15 industrial engine, which drives the machine’s state-of-the-art hydraulic system and produces the best compaction in the business to help customers save money on plastic.  Movement is driven by rotary piston pumps that eliminate the planetary, belts and gearbox from the equation, while the machine’s tracks remove all need for cables, back stop or anchors.

It also features a simple and efficient turbocharger with a balance valve that provides optimal air management and improved fuel efficiency benefiting farmers by helping them maintain low operating costs.
  • Above all, the C15 engine withstands the daily abuse of a 24/7 harvest season with strong and consistent power and proven reliability.
  • JBS cusomers have come to expect quality, reliabilty, performance and support out of their equipment, and having the Cat engine with the Cat dealer network provides that support over the lifetime of their equipment.

PLANTING THE SEEDS FOR SUCCESS

In 2005, Justin Bond started his own business with just $4,000 and a focus on fixing trailer axles. GROWING THE COMPANY PORTFOLIO

All JBS machines are custom-engineered and built to the highest specifications in Mission, British Columbia, in a state-of-the-art fabrication and assembly plant. One of those products is the high-performance Track-Pack® Silage Bagger, which farmers can use to reduce silage spoilage and shrink loss.

The Track-Pack Silage Bagger is powered by a Cat® C15, which drives the machine’s state-of-the-art hydraulic system. Movement is driven by rotary piston pumps that eliminate the planetary, belts and gearbox from the equation, while the machine’s tracks remove all need for cables, back stop or anchors. Plus, its performance is second to none. The Track-Pack Silage Bagger produces the best compaction in the business to help customers save money on plastic.

CULTIVATING CAT POWER

Based on overwhelming customer demand and positive industry feedback, JBS decided to choose a Cat industrial engine for the Track-Pack Silage Bagger.

The company selected the C15, which meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage V emission standards. It also features a simple and efficient turbocharger with a balance valve that provides optimal air management and improved fuel efficiency that benefits farmers by helping them maintain low operating costs.

Above all, JBS specified the C15, because it could withstand the daily abuse of a 24/7 harvest season. “We needed strong, consistent power and proven reliability,” Bond states. “The C15 has performed exceptionally well. Our customers never have to worry about not being able to get their work done because of performance-related issues.”

HARVESTING SUPERIOR RESULTS

Caterpillar has a reputation for working closely with customers, and JBS experienced the company’s high level of support firsthand. “Finding the right solution was easy with Caterpillar. They were very helpful with providing technical support to our engineers to ensure the right setup was chosen for our application,” Bond adds, and mentions that Finning Canada also played an important role. He says Finning had a very experienced representative on hand to answer questions and assist with requests for information, making it easy to do business together. “JBS customers have come to expect quality, reliability, performance and support out of our equipment, and I think Cat engines and Cat dealer support fall right in line with our values and goals,” Bond says. “It’s a great fit!”
